ABOUT THE ROLE

If you enjoy working with children and teens, and helping them to improve their lives through their sense of self-worth, their relationships, and by fostering a genuine therapeutic bond with them, this could be the place for you!

Behavioral Health Professionals work directly with children and teens with Autism Spectrum Disorders, developmental disabilities, or cognitive limitations in their homes and in the community. BHP’s work independently providing one-to-one support services to children, and are a vital part of a collaborative team to help children develop life, social, safety, and behavioral skills.

REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma

  • Strong interest in working with children and teens

  • Successful completion of background checks regarding your driving record, criminal record, and any records with DHHS

  • Reliable vehicle, and appropriate auto insurance coverage

  • Ability to work after school hours and/or weekends, between 8-20 hours (depending on your availability, and client needs) per week. However, in the summer, when school is out scheduling is often very flexible.

  • All candidates must be at least 18 years old

  • Must be willing to become BHP Certified within 12 months of employment

  • Be able to complete paperwork on time

  • Be able to attend the required supervisory sessions (an hour for every 40 client hours), supervisory sessions to be paid at $17 per hour

  • Experience working with children with autism or intellectual disabilities is preferred, but not required

  • Successful Behavioral Health professionals often have a positive attitude, high energy level, creativity, patience, and a kind heart

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Empowering a Child: Work with a child, and their family, on social, mental, domestic and behavioral goals in their home, our office, and/or in the community

  • Behavioral Health Professionals implement an Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) developed by the Supervisor assigned to the client
