Parsons Field

Dawn To Dusk

A large park right next to Main street in Kennebunk. With multiple play sets to two tennis courts. This is the best all around playground in Kennebunk. There is also a basketball court and a massive field to play in. If you get too hot there is a big roof with picnic tables underneath too cool off.

Mothers Beach

24 Hours

A very kid oriented Beach with a beautiful playground and plenty of tide pools to find ocean life. Unlike Gooch's Beach, Mothers doesn't need a parking permit during the summertime. This does mean that during the prime days and hours it may be harder to find parking. There are also portable toilets during the summertime.

Edwin L. Smith Preserve

24 Hours

A massive 1100 acre trail system a bit deeper into Kennebunkport/Cape Porpoise. They are very well marked and easy trails. There is a new building when you pull into the parking lot that has plenty of place to hangout and relax. Trail length ranges from 0.3 miles (Brook Trail) to 3.5 miles (Steele Trail).

West Kennebunk Park

A park on the west side of Kennebunk that has a medium sized playground with a really nice basketball court. The field in the middle of the park is very big to play catch or run around. Behind the parking lot there are rows of gardening plots that you can check out. There is also one tennis court to the right of the parking lot.

Dawn to Dusk

Rachel Carson

Dawn to Dusk

A scenic hiking loop on the border of Kennebunk and Wells. A 1 mile heavily trafficked walking loop that has scenic viewing spots throughout. This wildlife refuge has a very easily marked trail that has very little elevation gain. Along with a great trail there is a visitor center honoring Rachel Carson and all year bathrooms.

Hope Cemetery Trails

24 Hours

A 2.4 mile long trail system in the center of Kennebunk that has very well marked easy walking trails. There are 3 entrance points, but the ones with parking are in the back of the cemetery at the end of the access road. Or parking at the end of Wood Pond Road. The harder parking and busier trails are worth it to see the beautiful pond in the center.

Kennebunk Free Library

A great library for all age groups. With a great downstairs children's room there are plenty of programs most days. You can play board games or use the computers. There are also plenty of toys to play with. The youth program page can be found here.

Lower Village Park

Dawn to Dusk

A park in Lower Village right next to Kennebunk/ Kennebunkport border. There is a smaller play set but it is newer than most. This park also has a wiffle ball field along with a single basketball hoop. Overall, this is a good place to stop by after you are at one of the beaches or going through the area.

Rotary Park

8 AM - Sunset

A smaller park best for before or after Smith Preserve as it is near Cape Porpoise. Has a smaller play set and a few swings. The basketball and tennis courts are nice but tennis courts are for intended use only. The park has a nice few trails made for a stroll. They aren't very long. There is also a picnic area and bathrooms set up.

Gooch's Beach

One of the most popular beaches in southern Maine but needs a parking permit for the summer. During this time Mother's Beach is the better option. Gooch's is very big and has a ghetti on the left side where you can sit and see the boats coming in and out. Another downside of this beach is that there is very little space to walk on during the peak of high tide. That is why in the link below there is site to see the time of the tides.
